External hardwood Wordsworth Door fitted with decorative brass door knocker. The door was painted in our workshop prior to delivery in a ‘green eggshell’ finish.

External hardwood Wordsworth Door showing aperture cut to take letter plate; this procedure is best done in the workshop where the correct machinery is available. Some of the openings we have seen which were cut onsite look like they were done with a knife and fork! This door was painted in our workshop in gloss blue Farrow and Ball paint [excellent quality]. Judging by the work we are doing it seems paint is making a comeback at the expense of staining.

A view of the same blue Wordsworth Door painted on it’s internal side at the customer’s request in a lighter colour to compliment the customer’s interior decoration.

This 4 panel Colonial Door with bolection moulds exactly matches the original which has been replaced after being in service for 100 years. The accessories fitted to the munting are a Kirkpatrick letter plate and postal knocker [number 976], fitted to the middle rail a centre knob with rose [number 3064] and fitted over the deadlock key hole an escutcheon with cover [number 1190]. The door and ironmongery keeps the front elevation of this cottage in character with others in the row. Pictures courtesy of Miss Vesty.
This is a solid oak Welland Door and Frame which has been coated in our workshop with Sadolin Classic Light Oak finish. The glass pack is traditionally leaded [number WD57]. Also fitted are Kirkpatrick letter plate, lever lock handles and escutcheon. Footnote: Traditional leading is where coloured glass is secured in a framework made from lead strips which are not to be confused with modern ‘leaded glass’ where lead strips and a coloured film are applied to the surface of the glass.
